VMTA Fall Festival

Any student currently studying with a member of VMTA may enter the Fall Festival. The teacher must have paid MTNA yearly dues by June 30. To participate in the festival, members pay a fee of $15 per student. Nonmembers of RVMTA pay a fee of $20 per student.
Students perform based on their level:
Level 1: Young beginners through Grade 6
Level 2: Grades 7, 8 and 9
Level 3: Grades 10, 11, and 12
Level 4: High school graduates, college students, and adults of any proficiency level.
The combined maximum playing time for Levels 1 and 2 is five minutes. For levels 3 and 4, 10 minutes.
Members may enter any number of students. Students must perform two memorized selections, one representing the contemporary idiom (see guidelines in Teacher’s Guide to the Fall Festival), and the second from the standard repertoire of any other historical period. This piece may come from a method book if it is in its original form and NOT an arrangement, transcription. Or popular song).
Scores of both selections must be provided for the judges. No photocopies may be used without written consent from the publisher. Printouts of digital music are acceptable if the student or parent obtained a license to print the score.
Registration involves filling in one Registration Form per teacher and a Judges Comment Sheet for each student performer. Festival forms and filled-in samples are available on our Resources page.
